Leadership for Human Rights was focus during an event organized by PostkodLotteriet on May 22, 2012 at the Concert Hall in Stockholm, Sweden. It was an extraordinary evening dedicated to the fact that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
Niclas Kjellström-Matseke, MD PostkodLotteriet, welcomed all the invited guests, and most particularly the head speaker, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It was an emotional experience to listen to his engaging speech about fighting for human dignity.
Ambassador Jan Eliasson, newly appointed as Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, and Sean Penn, Ambassador-at-large for Haiti, also spoke passionately on the subject of Human Rights that continued in the panel discussion giving us a great call for action.
The evening was beautifully choreographed to include art, music, poetry and visual mediums interlaced with the powerful speeches to underscore the plight of the repressed.
PostkodLotteriet’s vision is to contribute to a better world for humans, animals and the environment. The event was a wonderful manifestation of their work on realizing the vision, which they also show through the support of so many organizations. AMREF Sweden are in deep gratitude for the project financed by PostkodLotteriet to AMREF Uganda giving the people in Wakiso District improved living conditions.
